LOCATION: Progreso Beach, Yucatan is a quiet, humble fishing town. Although it is only a few hours west of Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum etc., it is not like those touristy places yet. Progreso is more for the quiet adventurer, who can enjoy the “real” Mexico. Many “snow birds” visit here every winter to escape the coldest months back home and enjoy Progreso for its  affordability and authentic charm. The local Mayan people are humble and honest and the area is very safe. CNN  Money INTERNATIONAL LIVING SIXTY and ME Mexperience | Hippie-inHeels and many other articles about the Yucatan Peninsula and Merida, Mexico.
